So much running around my brain about Web 2.0, the possibilities, the lost and found time, the performance anxiety of needing to be witty and creative.  I guess today I became consciously competent in my basic knowledge of social media. Being employed by a global communications giant such as Ogilvy PR I benefit from social media as part of my every day working life and it was only when I really thought about it that I became conscious of it.  That’s another thing I discovered. Social media doesn’t need to be something to make an appointment to do, plan ahead or get a new outfit for, it’s just there. All the time.  It just is.  Like a communications sushi train.   Tasty brain food, served fast, help yourself.

What I’ve got to do now is to get courageous, stop peeping into others’ lives and dialogue and actively communicate with the community.  Start conversations, provoke thought, stand for something.  That means I need to give up worrying whether anyone will like it and whether I’ll be considered gauche and ill-informed.  Okay, that’s what I learned.  I’ll sleep on it and see in the morning if it was the wine talking.
